"I am vision, I am sound"

Well, Lauren will NOT be my guest tonight, but I may still very well have a co-host...that is "to be determined" at this point.

What I will very definitely have, however, is a smattering of Bob Mould tracks to get you excited for his show at Mississippi Nights tomorrow (the show of the week, without a doubt), plus a smattering of tracks from the New Pornographers, who'll be in town on October 6th. Be there, won't you?

Special announcement, btw: this happened back in February and I'm a little late finding it, but so what? Now-defunct St. Louis rockers Stir have put their entire un-released final album up for download on their website, www.stirband.com. I always thought Stir got the short end of the stick (their 2nd record, "Holy Dogs", has at least five great songs on it), so it's nice to at least be able to hear this stuff. Also, see if you can find the mp3 of them doing "Crazy Train"....definitely worth the hunt.

"This fire is outta control, we're gonna burn this city, BURN this city"

Hey all, be sure to tune in to the show on Monday, September 26th, where my guest once again will be Lauren Beckerle of PlaybackSTL. Lauren is a repeat guest since the online streaming was down on her first visit (it's back up now), but starting next week we'll have a new and exciting guest host each and every week. I could post the entire schedule now, but then you'd have fewer reasons to be checking back, now wouldn't you?

Those of you wishing to do something fun tonight and hang out with some kool kats, I highly recommend heading down to the Pageant to catch Ye Olde Franz Ferdinand. Damn near the entire PlaybackSTL staff'll be there (by the bar, naturally)...it should be a good ol' time.

(FU:EL contest: first person to post a comment on here with where the name Franz Ferdinand comes from gets 10 coolness points, and a song of their choice played on Monday's show. I know there's no way to actually police this, but it really is cheating to look it up. You should know this stuff.)

Set List for 9/19/2005

Flying solo this week, here's the setlist for the first OFFICIAL installment of FU:EL for the year.

As I reiterated several times during the show, there's a number of great concerts to check out this week, including FOUR on Thursday alone: Alkaline Trio at the Pageant, Tristan Prettyman at the Gargoyle, Dressy Bessy at the Way Out Club, and Sufjan Stevens at Mississippi Nights. And don't forget Franz Ferdinand on Friday, k?

This week's show didn't flow as well from song to song as they often do, due mostly to the fact that the CD stacks are only organized up through "F" so I was stuck with that, and stuff I brought with for the most part. Eh...maybe next week....

Welcome to FU:EL!

Hey all! Welcome to the website for "File Under: Easy Listening", the long-running, much-loved (or at least, I like to think so) power pop radio show! FU:EL airs Monday nights from 6-8pm on KWUR-FM (90.3 FM in St. Louis, MO) and is also available online at www.kwur.com.

Many long-time listeners of the show will remember the days when I had a co-host, one Brad Terebelo. Well, Brad has gone to Philadelphia, but I've gotten ever-so-lonely in the studio of late, so get ready for a plethora of co-hosts. I'm using my connections at local magazine PlaybackSTL to bring some of the brightest local music journalists onto the St. Louis airwaves. Tune in next Monday, September 12th, for the first show of the semester, where I'll be joined by Playback music reviewer Lauren Beckerle.

Be sure to stay tuned to this very site for setlists, concert announcements, and other show updates. See y'all on Monday!
